Global Pohang, A city of hope and dream
Hello and welcome to PITV news.
Here are the headlines.
1. The welfare budget of Pohang city this year is 18.70 billion won, increased 19.4% more compare to previous year.
Pohang plans to actively support various welfare projects including the underprivileged, physically or mentally challenged and elderly people.
The city decided to support 4.92 billion won to ensure the livelihood of national basic living guaranty recipients, 600 million won for emergency and welfare support projects and 1.96 billion won for welfare project for elderly.
Additionally, the city plans to create 6,114 jobs in welfare related field so that the self-supporting and independent welfare policy is able to be made.
2. The symbol of the 48th Athletic Competition for the residents in Gyeongbuk province, scheduled to be hold for 4 days from July 16th.
Pohang city organized symbol selection committee, consisted of 13 specialists from each field on the 19th in City hall. The committee chose 12 festival symbols, such as emblem, mascot, poster, slogan, etc.
Prior to this, 15 people from related organizations, such as Pohang City Sports Council and school board, had a meeting and discussed the best way of holding the festival.
Pohang confirmed the fundamental plan since last October and works on the details to get ready for a successful event, that is held in Pohang after 11 years since last time.
3. Pohang provides 2010 social education programs for married immigrant women in the city. It is for the better understanding and stable settlement of the married immigrant women who are new to the city.
The programs are divided into two ways: A group program is held in Women’s Cultural Center, Education Center in Ocheon and Education Center in Heunghae, and home visit program is for married immigrant women who live far away from the education center.
The group program will explain about the Korean traditional life and culture such as Korean food, manners and games. It will be three times per week from March to December.
The home visit program will include child education service as well as Korean education from February to June.
There are 25 instructors who visit families. Each instructor will visit 4 families for 8 hours in a week and provide service like Korean, Child education guidance, and family counselling.
4. City officials from Fukuoka, Japan visited Pohang and had a briefing session for the practical exchanges and cooperation between two cities.
The Japanese delegation explained about how to attract the trainee group to Fukuoka City, City design, the aging population and environment-friendly waste treatment technology. They also introduced problem-solving know-how and performances related to city
The director of planning and coordination in City of Fukuoka said "the major programs that are held by Pohang City such as the training program for city official in Fukuoka and various policies to attract Japanese tourists, helped city of Fukuoka to be known in Japan." The director also wishes to have the continuous exchanges between two cities.
In the meantime, Pohang explained the promotion plan about training program in Fukuoka that have been since last year, major policies of Pohang as well as wish to have exchanges through Yeongil Bay Port.
5. Stop smoking is one of the serious New Year’s resolutions for smokers However, if you are having difficulties to quit smoking by yourself, you should try free-smoking clinics in health center.
Pohang health center operates daytime free-smoking clinics from 9 Am to 6 PM as well as night time clinics for the convenience of daytime workers.
The clinic provides programs for people who decided to quit smoking such as checking weight, blood pressure and Carbon monoxide, customized service with counselling, smoking behavior therapy and educational assistance for free.
The health center in Southern district runs non-smoking village after receiving non-smoking applications while the center in Northern district manages mobile non-smoking clinics targeting groups, more than 10 people, for 6 months.
