- Pohang’s new cultural and arts site - 10,000 visitors since the inauguration of the museum The Pohang Museum of Steelart, which opened the door to Pohang museums, is creating a success story amid much acclaim from recent visitors. Approximately 10,000 people visited the museum to see the “Blacksmith in the Neo Iron Age” exhibit in six days following its inauguration on December 22. POMA is becoming the place for Pohang citizens to demonstrate the vigorous interest and passion they have for art. During the Christmas holidays, POMA was buzzing with families and couples who arrived on an arts excursion. Ji-heon Kim (34, Yangduk-dong Bukgu) visited the museum with his wife and child and conveyed his support for POMA, saying, “It is quite motivating that an arts museum opened in Pohang. I am having a great time because I can enjoy both the artwork and the park.” “I visited with my mother and my daughter. All generations can enjoy the various exhibits prepared at the museum,” Mi-ok Jung (45, Yongheung-doing, Bukgu) said, in expressing her satisfaction with the exhibits of various themes. POMA’s inaugural exhibit “Blacksmith of the Neo Iron Age” is divided into four sections: “Younghee and Chulsoo,” “Cybernetics – The Blacksmith of the Neo Iron Age,” “Art of Pohang 2009” and “Special Exhibition of Doogun Chang” – that will take place until March 14. The museum is closed on Mondays. The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (admission ends at 7 p.m.) every day except Thursdays, when the exhibition stays open late until 9 p.m. (admission ends at 8 p.m.).  |
