The Dream English Camp with Native SpeakersHits : 121
- 3-day Schedule Started on the 14th.

The Pohang Dream Start Center (President Gye-young Lee) started its 3-day English camp with an admission ceremony at Guryongpo Youth Training Center on the 14th.

The English camp was organized for Dream Start children from low-income families so that they may learn and experience English and have fun at the same time.

Immigrant women and marines from US Marine Expeditionary Force Camp Mu Juk will participate in the camp as native teachers and allow the children to get a direct experience and the feel of expressing themselves in English.

The English camp is organized into three levels – advanced, medium and low – and five classes with five themes for the 50 Dream Start children.

Apart from the theme lessons, the first day includes a Domino game and star-watching programs. On the second day, the children will have an opportunity to make sandwiches and guamegi soap with marines from the US Marine Force.

Dream Start plans to encourage all children to participate actively in the program so that they may acquire communal spirit and develop their social skills.

The English Camp will not only improve the children’s English skills but also make Pohang’s outstanding labor force assist in the Dream Start business. The Camp reflects a good example of where local resources have been used well.

“The objective of the English Camp is to provide an opportunity for low-income class children who cannot access English villages or camps to experience English directly so that they build their confidence in English and acquire the ability to handle basic English,” said Gye-young Lee, the president of Pohang Women and Family Division.

In August last year, Pohang Dream Start Center held an English Market event with the US Marine instructors, immigrant women and volunteers that received great reviews from both children and parents.
